Archetypal Dreamwork and Gender

Taught by Marc Bregman, Christa Lancaster, Bill St.Cyr and Susan Marie Scavo

How does the role of gender affect our working with dreams? How does our own gender affect our work? Why do the Archetypes come in dreams in gendered roles? How is this work different for men and women? How do all of these issues affect our primary relationships?

In this class, we will delve into the complex and rich issues of gender and Archetypal Dreamwork.

We will explore these issues through discussion of our own work and through explorations of some of the mythological stories, including Persephone and Hades, the Garden of Eden, the Prodigal Son, the Hero and the Anti-Hero.
The first part of the class will be taught by Marc and/or Christa as they lay out the material for the class in lecture format; the second part of the class will be taught by Bill and Sue.

The Secret of the Pomegranate will be the core textbook for the class. This book explores how these gender issues play out in mythology, exploring familial relationship issues such as mother-daughter dynamics, mother-son dynamics, father-daughter dynamics, father-son dynamics, and sibling relationships.

In this semester, we will explore these gender issues and how they relate to and inform our primary relationships with our partners.

Some of the issues we will explore will be from Marc and Christa's teachings that have arisen from the couples' retreats.
