Emerging Through Creativity - Presenting Archetypal Dreamwork through Music, Poetry, Story and Art - Lyrics!

I must learn that the dregs of my thought, my dreams, are the speech of my soul.
-Carl Jung - The Red Book

The North of Eden Center for Archetypal Dreamwork presented an evening of music, poetry, prose and visual artwork—creative expression inspired by dreams and Archetypal Therapy.

Plainfield musician, author and North of Eden Teacher Bob Murray hosted the event, sharing original songs and reading from his recent memoir, A Chicken Hawk Goes Home. Other musical performers included Jeremiah McLane, Karla Van Vliet, Jim Goss, Jane Mackenzie, Peter Fischer, Kristin Kehler, Susannah Blachly and Robin Russell. Readings included excerpts from Seth Mullins’ new novel, Song of the Twice Born: The Mirror of Sirrus, as well as poems from Karl Van Vliet’s new book of poetry, The River From My Mouth. Visual artwork artwork was also on display—works by Karla Van Vliet, Deb Degraff, Laura Ruth, Kristin Kehler, Sarah Lyda, and others.

It was an amazing evening, each performer stepping into the vulnerablity of singing and performing, of stepping out with their writing, their artwork.

Seth Mullins: Discovering epic fantasy at the age of 12, Seth had this realization: “These stories aren’t really concerned with events on other worlds. They’re about all the movements and changes taking place within us, and beneath our world’s façade. I always knew that this was the kind of writing that I wanted to do.” He recently published the first book of a trilogy – Song of the Twice Born – Book 1: The Mirror of Sirrus.

In his writings, Mullins reaches for a fine marriage between Archetypal Psychology (of which he is a passionate advocate) and High Fantasy. His influences include Joseph Campbell, Stephen R. Donaldson, Dune, and Marc Bregman’s Deep Well Tapes. His first novel, Song of an Untamed Land, was published in 2005.
